We’re excited to dive into the fascinating world of HPE Parallel File System Storage. This cutting-edge technology provides the highest degree of performance and dependability.
In today’s fast-paced digital world, firms from various industries generate massive amounts of data every second. Traditional storage systems usually fail to meet the demand for effective data processing and storage due to their inability to keep up with the ever-increasing workload.
HPE Parallel File System Storage is a game changer in high-performance computing in this regard. This unique storage solution provides a smooth user experience by merging different storage devices into a single file system. The result? Unprecedented performance levels enable organizations to process massive amounts of data more quickly than ever.
HPE Parallel File System Storage: Overview
HPE Parallel File System Storage is a low-cost parallel storage solution for high-performance simulation, AI, and data analytics applications running on HPE Apollo systems and HPE ProLiant DL servers equipped with HPE InfiniBand HDR/Ethernet 100/200 Gb adapters. This industry-leading software-defined storage system is built with IBM Spectrum Scale, formerly GFPS, and the world’s most secure industry-standard servers (rack-optimized HPE ProLiant DL servers). It ships fully integrated as an HPE product directly from the HPE factory. So HPE Pointnext services provide unified support for the complete storage solution.
In comparison to traditional scale-out NAS storage, HPE Parallel File System Storage provides multiple levels of performance and namespace scalability, enabling you to increase compute node utilization by eliminating I/O bottlenecks and enable cost savings by consolidating storage islands into a single, high-performance namespace. It is the ideal solution for organizations that use clusters of HPE Apollo systems or HPE ProLiant DL servers for High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and High-Performance Data Analytics (HPDA) workloads and are experiencing speed, scalability, and cost issues with their current unstructured data storage infrastructure.

Platform Information
HPE Parallel File System Storage provides the following three ways to build a file system• All user data in the file system on fast NVMe SSD
• All user data in the file system on cost-effective HDD
• Fast NVMe storage pool and cost-effective HDD storage pool in the same file system/namespace with two models of
storage nodes that are based on HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus rack servers
• 16 Flash Bays
• 12 Disk Bays
The preceding servers use the well-known IBM Spectrum Scale ® parallel file system in Erasure Code Edition (ECE). IBM Spectrum Scale ECE can be installed on standard rack servers like the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen 10 Plus. ECE has all of the functionality, dependability, scalability, and efficacy of the IBM Spectrum Scale, plus the extra benefit of network-distributed IBM Spectrum Scale RAID. It simplifies the development of IBM Spectrum Scale-based storage systems from clusters of low-cost, high-volume rack servers such as the HPE ProLiant DL. The Parallel File System Protocol Server is a preconfigured server that allows NFS, SMB, and Object (S3) customers to access PFSS file systems. As a result, the client can now offer shared data to all major access platforms.
HPE Parallel File System 16 Flash Bays Server
This 1U rack mount storage node is the design that integrates at least four of these servers in a similar configuration into a RAID cluster to generate (very fast) NVMe-based file system/namespace speed and capacity. The storage server has up to 16 NVMe SSD hot-pluggable Small Form Factor (SFF) disk slots.
The performance your HPC/AI Clusters Need
HPE Parallel File System Storage is built on industry-standard server technology, including HPE SmartMemory memory with up to 3200 MT/s DDR4 bandwidth and AMD EPYC 7000 series processors. PCIe 4.0/NVMe SSDs are the industry standard for performance delivery, and they can be paired with HDD storage pools in the same namespace to provide cost-effective storage capacity. High-speed, low-latency networks that send data to CPU or GPU compute nodes without input/output (IO) limitations include InfiniBand EDR/HDR and 100/200 Gigabit Ethernet. Data can skip CPUs with NVIDIA Magnum IO support for accelerated input/output (IO) for NVIDIA GPUs. Highly accessible write caching (HAWC) accelerates I/O for write-intensive applications by utilizing nonvolatile storage in computing nodes.
IBM Spectrum Scale RAID
Allows all storage disks in a node to fail or become unavailable by distributing data and parity information across node failure zones. Nodes share spare capacity to increase parallelism in restoration processes. IBM Spectrum Scale RAID uses end-to-end checksums and data versions to discover and remedy data integrity issues that regular RAID has. So erasure Code Edition (ECE) pushes this forward by distributing data over a set of share-nothing nodes, allowing for decentralized scaling with more straightforward node configurations (no longer requiring sophisticated and expensive dual-node servers with shared disks/flash).
To alleviate the performance impact, take advantage of modern high-speed networks being bidirectional. ECE actively maintains data integrity and version information from the moment data leaves the client node until it writes it to disk. T10Dif alone allows for fewer data integrity checks to be performed. The useable storage capacity of the HPE Parallel File System is smaller than the fundamental storage capacity (the total capacity of all configured storage drives) due to the overhead for data protection (RAID Level).
Hardware Features
The HPE FPSS provides significant value in precisely scalable configurations by leveraging the excellent capabilities of the HPE ProLiant server line. So HPE achieves exceptional performance at a cheap cost by utilizing the AMD Epyc processor series and its robust IO features. So all nodes have AMD Epic processors with 8 to 48 cores and 64GB to 128GB of 3200MTS RAM, as per their configuration. It enables the client systems to access the full performance of the installed HDDs and SSDs. It also enables the delivery of complicated capabilities with minimum impact on performance.
We use 100Gb or 200Gb dual protocol NICs to handle InfiniBand and Ethernet at 100Gb or 200Gb speeds in order to maximize storage performance. So configuring one or two NICs can satisfy various connectivity and availability requirements. You can choose from several HDD and SDD solutions to satisfy your capacity and performance requirements. So there is no need to overprovision capacity or vice versa to achieve performance standards.
To Conclude
HPE Parallel File System Storage increases the efficacy and dependability of companies of all sizes. The ability of this cutting-edge storage system to manage enormous amounts of data at the same time ensures faster processing times, increased productivity, and improved decision-making abilities.
Another feature that distinguishes HPE Parallel File System Storage from other storage alternatives is its scalability. So this system can readily accommodate rising demand without compromising speed as your firm expands and its data requirements increase. This versatility ensures your company can keep up with the ever-increasing data volume of the digital age.
Furthermore, HPE Parallel File System Storage provides unrivaled stability, lowering the risk of data loss or system failure. By incorporating redundancy and fault tolerance technologies, this storage solution protects your critical data and assures uninterrupted operations. This level of dependability is critical for firms that rely on constant data access in their everyday operations.
In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, access to dependable and efficient ICT products is crucial. HPE’s servers, storage systems, and networking equipment are among the best available. ICT Distribution is the best option if you’re looking for a dependable distributor of HPE products in Cambodia.
